Why Is NLP Coupes and Family Therapy Different?

Neuro Linguistic Programming) is a powerful form of therapy which can bring about long lasting change where other therapies have failed.

Simply put, it’s a hand book for the brain!  As a practitioner I have undergone substantial training on how the brain works and how to facilitate change in thought processes which result in lasting behavioural changes.

Where Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) works with existing pathways and helps the client to identify patterns which they can actively alter through conscious thought.  NLP goes much deeper and therefore is much better for treating lasting trauma and redefining beliefs from unhelpful to aspirational.

Dr Richard Bandler invented the term “Neuro-Linguistic Programming” in the 1970s. He was recently asked to write the definition of Neuro-Linguistic Programming that appears in the Oxford English Dictionary.  It says:

Neuro-Linguistic Programming: “a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behaviour and the subjective experiences (esp. patterns of thought) underlying them” and “a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behaviour.”

Clients can achieve astonishing results and these results are often seen much faster than in conventional therapy.  This is because as practitioners we go into the unconscious mind and really get to the route of a clients issues, and using a variety of techniques, assist them in redefining themselves and letting go of negative beliefs which may have held them back for years.  I’ve worked with clients who have had breakthroughs in less than ten minutes!
